Joe Bob McCartt is an Amarillo native who attended both Amarillo College and West Texas State University before graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi. After returning to Amarillo, McCartt began developing commercial real estate in the local market.

McCartt has developed office buildings, shopping centers, multifamily projects in Amarillo and the metroplex. In 2003 McCartt as President of ScribcorTexas contracted with the Texas Building and Procurement Commission to represent the State’s interests in their portfolio of 12,000,000 square feet of leased office space located throughout the state.

In 2001 McCartt was appointed and then reappointed in 2009 to the Texas Real Estate Research Advisory Committee. This committee advises the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M. The center conducts real estate related research based on Texans' needs.

Currently McCartt & Associates focuses on brokerage, management, and syndication.
